Steve qualified in 1987 from the Royal Veterinary College and the worked for 4 years in general practice, before taking a dermatology residency at the Animal Health Trust in 1991. He was awarded the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Dermatology in 1992. In 2000 he was awarded his PhD entitled ˜The immune response in canine atopy: hypersensitivity to house dust mites [Dermatophagoides spp.]

Steve qualified in 1987 from the Royal Veterinary College and the worked for 4 years in general practice, before taking a dermatology residency at the Animal Health Trust in 1991. He was awarded the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Dermatology in 1992. In 2000 he was awarded his PhD entitled ˜The immune response in canine atopy: hypersensitivity to house dust mites [Dermatophagoides spp.]
From 2001 to 2006, he was Head of Dermatology at the Animal Health Trust and then underwent a further residency at Rutland House Referrals from 2006 to 2009. In 2009, UK VetDerm was started and in 2011, Steve was awarded the RCVS Diploma in Veterinary Dermatology and is an RCVS Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Dermatology.

UK VetDerm provide referral services for Guide Dogs based on a long relationship between Steve Shaw and Guide Dogs. We have considerable experience in treating assistance dogs with skin disease and when Guide dogs are affected, Guide Dogs may ask for a referral to Steve Shaw at UKVetDerm at one of a number of different locations including:
